Scanning a label

  1. Open the app — the camera starts on the Scan tab automatically. There is no shutter button.
  2. Hold the phone so the serial number sits inside the on-screen guide box.
  3. Keep steady for two or three seconds. The frame turns green when the serial locks.
  4. The result opens by itself, showing the matched ECU and the tools that support it.

Common questions

It found "Bosch" but never locks the serial

Usually the serial is too small in frame or partly obscured. Move closer so it fills the guide box. If the label is damaged, use the Library tab to search by ECU model or vehicle instead.

My ECU isn't found

The bundled database is extensive but not exhaustive. When an exact serial is missing, ecuGenie offers the closest matching units, and can identify the ECU family from the label instead. If you believe a unit is missing, email the serial and we'll look at adding it.

Does it work offline?

Yes. The database ships inside the app and text recognition runs on your device. No internet connection is needed to scan or look anything up.

Does it work on non-Bosch ECUs?

Scanning is tuned for Bosch labels and their serial format. Other manufacturers are present in the database and can be found through the Library tab.

Where did my scan go?

Every match is saved to the History tab, newest first. Tap any entry to reopen the full result.

Is my data collected?

Scans stay on your device and are never uploaded. See the Privacy Policy for details.
